Long-time collaborators Winter McQuinn (Sunfruits, Beefheart & McQuinn, jade imagine) and Acacia Pip (PINCH POINTS, Slush) return with Disassociating On The Travelator, the beautifully understated second EP from one of Melbourne/Naarm's most compelling songwriting partnerships. Released by Australia's Third Eye Stimuli Records, the vinyl edition arrives as a special double EP alongside the duo's 2024 debut EP, Recently I've Been Missing The Colour Green—bringing both releases together on vinyl for the very first time.
Recorded at the legendary Bakehouse Studios with acclaimed songwriter and producer Liam "Snowy" Halliwell, the four-track collection expands on the warm indie folk, jangling guitar pop and folk-emo leanings of the duo's acclaimed 2024 debut, Recently I've Been Missing The Colour Green. Recorded live, the EP captures the pair's instinctive chemistry while embracing a richer, more spacious studio sound.
Across four intimate songs, McQuinn and Pip reflect on the quiet complexities of contemporary life—trying to make sense of changing relationships, the passing of time, self-doubt and finding happiness in everyday moments. Built around shimmering guitars, warm acoustic textures and effortlessly melodic songwriting, Disassociating On The Travelator recalls artists such as Andy Shauf, Courtney Barnett, Elliott Smith, Kurt Vile and Bonny Doon, while retaining a voice that feels entirely their own.
Featuring the lead single "Exactly The Same", a bittersweet Melbourne winter anthem about embracing the path that has brought you to where you are today, the EP further cements the duo's gift for pairing emotionally resonant lyrics with quietly irresistible melodies.
