For the third time, Hamburg-based musicians Vladyslav Sendecki and Jürgen Spiegel present a new chapter in their highly successful duo project. Following their acclaimed debut Two In The Mirror (SKP 9043) in 2019 and its equally well-received successor Solace (SKP 9153) in 2021, the two internationally renowned artists took five years to further refine and deepen their unique musical dialogue. The result is Simple Game, a compelling blend of original compositions and fresh interpretations of timeless jazz and pop classics. Pianist Vladyslav Sendecki—a longtime member of the NDR Bigband and a legendary figure in his native Poland after more than five decades of performing alongside icons such as Michał Urbaniak, Leszek Żądło, Urszula Dudziak, and Tomasz Stańko, before embarking on an international career with artists including Klaus Doldinger, Billy Cobham, and the Brecker Brothers—contributes five original compositions to the album. Among them are the title track, Simple Game, and Friendly Garden, a piece that has long been a highlight of the duo's live performances. Jürgen Spiegel, best known around the world as the drummer of the Tingvall Trio, is represented with three original compositions of his own. After scoring a small jazz-world success with their moving interpretation of Peter Gabriel's Don't Give Up on Solace, Sendecki and Spiegel once again turn to iconic songs for inspiration. This time they reimagine Lennon and McCartney's Come Together alongside Everything Must Change, the timeless classic made famous by Quincy Jones. Their choice of repertoire is far from accidental—these thoughtful reinterpretations resonate deeply with today's political climate, underscoring the album's message of reflection, resilience, and hope.
