“In the ACT Art Gallery in Berlin, the idea at the very core of ACT becomes a reality-this is a place where music in the spirit of jazz and modern art come together under the motto ‘The ART in MUSIC’.
“At the gallery’s musical heart is a Steinway D grand piano. This instrument is the one which Alfred Brendel chose for his concerts at the Philharmonie in Berlin. Today, it has found a new vocation-it is frequently played by some of Europe’s finest jazz musicians, both in concert and for recordings.
“I normally do the programming of the continuing series of Gallery Concerts myself. However, for our summer party on 30 August 2025 - which also celebrated my 85th birthday - Andreas Brandis presented me with a uniquely special gift. For more than ten years now, he has been continuing what I began at ACT in 1992. More than 20 ACT artists spanning three generations had signed up for this special day, and Andreas formed them into different and contrasting line-ups - featuring rising stars, established artists and some of the defining figures of European jazz.
“It is no exaggeration to say that this proved to be the most wonderful birthday celebration I have ever had. It was a day which never stopped delivering musical moments that were impressive, deeply moving or indeed both. But the concert space in the gallery can only hold around 50 people, and it would be a terrible shame if this extraordinary music could only be heard by a tiny circle of people. So, with the present album, anyone who wants to can now be part of that magical day ‘In the Spirit of Jazz’.”-Siggi Loch

Shipping

- Pre-ordering is a great way to secure your copy of an album prior to its release date
- We aim to ensure all pre-ordered products are shipped or ready for collection by the album's release date
