A stylish quick mix moves from Barbara Acklin’s “Am I the Same Girl,” also covered by Swing Out Sister, to its instrumental version, “Soulful Strut.” Highlights include “Children of the Night,” a Stylistics cover sampled by BUDDHA BRAND; South Bronx’s boogie disco rap track “The Big Throwdown” the old-school break “Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll”; three powerful funk tracks by Exit 9 from the rare groove classic “Straight Up”; and Young & Company’s dance classic “I Like What You’re Doing to Me,” sampled by Black Sheep. Through these connections between classics and the grooves that have been sampled, this mix delivers the distinctive thrill of DEV LARGE’s digging and mixing!
This reissue also includes newly added director’s notes by Hideo “JAM” Hosoda.
