A perfect gift for yourself or your loved ones, this festive favourite is packed with timeless Christmas tracks, kicking off with the ever-popular “Last Christmas” by Wham! Other chart-topping hits include Slade’s “Merry Xmas Everybody”, Boney M.’s “Mary’s Boy Child / Oh My Lord”, Shakin’ Stevens’ “Merry Christmas Everyone”, “Mistletoe And Wine” from Cliff Richard, and the iconic Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”.
The collection brings together enduring holiday favourites including Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime”, Chris Rea’s “Driving Home For Christmas”, the Pretenders with “2000 Miles”, and Elton John’s “Step Into Christmas”. You’ll also find perennial classics from Wizzard with “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday”, David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s collaboration “Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy”, and The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl with their unforgettable “Fairytale Of New York”.
Modern festive hits feature, including Cher with “DJ Play A Christmas Song”, Leona Lewis’ “One More Sleep”, Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath The Tree”, and Coldplay’s “Christmas Lights”. Mariah Carey lights up the playlist with “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”, while Sam Ryder’s “You’re Christmas To Me”, George Ezra’s “Come On Home For Christmas” and Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s 2021 hit “Merry Christmas” provide a contemporary twist to the holiday spirit.
This collection also honours timeless classics, featuring legendary artists including Andy Williams with “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”, Frank Sinatra with “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas”, Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You)”, and Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow!”. The Jackson 5’s “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” will keep everyone dancing alongside sing-along anthems from Brenda Lee with “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”, The Crystals’ “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Santa Baby” from Eartha Kitt, The Ronettes’ “Sleigh Ride”, and Darlene Love’s magical “Marshmallow World”.
Not to be missed are sensational hits from the '70s and '80s, with Bruce Springsteen’s rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town”, Greg Lake’s epic “I Believe In Father Christmas”, Mud’s #1 “Lonely This Christmas” and Jona Lewie’s “Stop The Cavalry”. You can also enjoy unique Christmas gems from The Wombles with “Wombling Merry Christmas”, “Christmas Wrapping” from The Waitresses, Stevie Wonder’s “Someday At Christmas”, and Whitney Houston’s stunning vocals on “Do You Hear What I Hear”.
The final disc celebrates the songs that were huge hits at Christmas-time but not necessarily Christmas songs. Re-live the memories with Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s “The Power Of Love”, East 17’s “Stay Another Day”, and fellow chart-toppers “Always On My Mind” from Pet Shop Boys and “Don’t You Want Me” by The Human League. Münchener Freiheit’s “Keeping The Dream Alive”, Paul Young’s “Love Of The Common People”, The Spice Girls’ “2 Become 1” and huge acapella hits from The Flying Pickets and The Housemartins are evocative of the time of year, while Steps and Jason Donovan also enjoyed dance-floor-filling hits at Christmas-time. The collection closes with “We All Stand Together”, a true one-off seasonal smash for Paul McCartney & The Frog Chorus.
Whether you're decorating the tree, hosting a party, or enjoying some rest, NOW That’s What I Call Christmas brings together an essential selection of festive favourites to set the perfect holiday mood!
