The Copenhagen-based punk quartet USERS will release their debut album Welcome to Civilisation on May 1st - an album dedicated to the working class and to the people who keep society running, while power, profit, and decision-making accumulate elsewhere. The album captures USERS’ first 2 years as a dedicated live band and consists of ten tracks revolving around class oppression, capitalism, collective powerlessness, anger, love, and community. Welcome to Civilisation is written from within a system where the pressures of working life, finances, and human care are increasingly felt. The release takes place on May 1st, International Workers’ Day, as a deliberate statement of the album’s standpoint. For USERS, punk isn’t escapism or attitude - it’s a shared space for processing through music. Known for their intense live shows, the band dissolves the boundaries between stage and audience, turning the music into a collective experience rather than a performance. “It’s not about ego, it’s about the community we create,” says guitarist Esbjørn. “Standing together in anger, grief, responsibility and solidarity - instead of carrying it all alone - that is what punk is.” This same approach runs through Welcome to Civilisation. The music moves between anger and vulnerability, drawing threads to bands like IDLES, Rage Against The Machine, Lambrini Girls and Soft Play - but rooted in something distinctly political and personal. The sound on Welcome to Civilisation is very raw and honest. Just like the messages packed into the lyrics. Nothing is sugarcoated, like the themes the album is consumed by. The album is produced and mixed by the band’s very own bass player, Sune Weisberg Danger, going by the name “Wizzard” among the band members. Like the band’s graphics and merch made by their drummer Oskar Lauritzen Meyer, this is DIY to the core. You get what you see with USERS: four guys in a bunker, with a high level of technicality and a lot on their hearts and minds. It’s an album packed with a punch - music to blast straight into your ears on your bike, on your way to something or away from everything. Lyrics play a central role on the album, functioning as a shared language for the band’s experiences, conversations and activism. “The lyrics aren’t decoration,” Sean explains. “They’re a tool - a way of saying exactly what we need to say as a band. A manifesto.” Welcome to Civilisation gives voice to those often unheard - including the band themselves - rooted in working-class realities and moving between the personal and the systemic. Love and care stand side by side with anger and confrontation, grounded in the belief that change happens through community. “We are all USERS” The name USERS - always written in uppercase - is a deliberate political marker. “We are all USERS of this life-ruining drug called capitalism,” the band says. “No matter howv we live, we are part of a system that exploits others.” With Welcome to Civilisation, USERS insist that music can be a tool for taking a stand - not just a product. “If people react, take a position, or feel inspired to start their own punk band, then the album has done its job,” says drummer Oskar. USERS consists of: Sean Micheal Seldorf Flaherty - vocals Esbjørn Hannibal Hermansson - guitar Sune Weisberg Danger - bass, production and mix Oskar Lauritzen Meyer - drums, merch and logo designer The band has previously performed at, among others, Roskilde Festival, sold-out venues, and toured in Sweden, Norway and Germany. They are known for their political edge and ollective approach to both music and live performance.
