Single LP with printed inner sleeve, newly mastered by George Shilling and pressed on Oxblood colour vinyl LP for the first time ever.
Now featuring corrected album title and artwork and sequenced as originally planned by Wayne Hussey including the full-length version of ‘Love Me To Death’ previously omitted from the album release and never released on vinyl in full before.
The Mission were formed in 1986 by former Sisters of Mercy band members Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams, soon adding guitarist Simon Hinkler - all of whom are in the present day line-up and about to celebrate 40 years since the release of their debut album ‘God’s Own Medicine’.
Following a couple of EP releases the band signed a seven-album recording contract with Phonogram in July 1986 and their debut album, ‘God's Own Medicine’, was recorded in six weeks with producer Tim Palmer, an acquaintance from Hussey's Dead or Alive days.
The Mission quickly established their own identity and following which saw ‘God's Own Medicine’ chart at #14 and featuring some of the band's most enduring tracks, including "Wasteland" (a #11 hit) as well as the Top 30 singles "Severina" (featuring All About Eve’s Julianne Regan on guest vocals) and "Stay With Me" all of which have become staples of the group's live set and fan favourites for generations.
During this period as well as their own live dates the band played shows across Europe and USA with The Cult, The Psychedelic Furs and U2 on their Joshua Tree tour.
To commemorate this anniversary in 2026 the band are playing a hugely anticipated 4-night residency at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town in November 2026 where each night they will perform a different set from across their catalogue. Night one will naturally see the band perform God’s Own Medicine in its entirety plus additional b-sides and surprises.
God’s Own Medicine has never been released on colour vinyl and has been unavailable on vinyl since 2017.
