The Baby Seals’ Live ... was recorded at The Portland Arms in Cambridge when the band supported punk legend from USA, Lydia Lunch, known for her razor sharp, riotous shows the Seals were the perfect local support for such a special night! The gig was a really explosive night for The Baby Seals . There was a visceral energy in the room from the outset, you can feel it from the second the recording starts, when the band were sent the stems by the desk afterwards, the performance and energy was there in spades, and so Trapped Aninal decided to release the show on 12", to archive this fantastic night and performance of human made art! The 12" and digital also features the studio version of “Irene” - a track that demonstrates the band’s organic growth into a moodier, desert-rock-vibed garage-punk band, and a taste of what’s to come from their 2027 sophomore album slated for next Spring. Their engineer Joe Nicholson knows exactly how The Baby Seals want the sound and worked his magic on the recordings to create a pretty raucous live album. The record was mastered with precision by their regular engineer Antony at Red Red Paw.
