Speedy Wunderground Vol. 6 Compilation Various Artists

Beloved south London-based record label Speedy Wunderground are today announcing news of a 6th instalment in their annual compilation series. Speedy Wunderground Vol. 6 will be released digitally and on vinyl this August 30th, spotlighting selected single releases that chronicle the label's output across 2022-2023.

Featuring on the new edition are Dutch post-punks Lewsberg, vaunted English songwriter Jane Weaver, The Queen's Head, Australian goth-poppers HighSchool, experimental rock pair O. - who released acclaimed debut album WeirdOs on Speedy Wunderground earlier this year - newly-anointed Mercury Music Prize nominees English Teacher, psych-punks Hot Face and songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tummyache. Every song captures a snapshot in time from these artists, each recorded in a single day as per the famed Speedy Wunderground studio rules. Vol. 6 makes for another exciting showcase of the many different directions the label continues to push itself in, at the vanguard of what's new and bubbling in the underground.

Label head and producer Dan Carey comments: "I'm excited to have this collection ready. There is something that sets this apart from the previous 5 volumes: I had never worked with, and in most cases never even met any of the people on this record until the sessions for these songs. There's a variety in how these collaborations came about. Jane Weaver and Lewsberg are artists that I'd been wanting to work with for a long time, whereas I saw Hot Face at The Windmill one night and just said come over to mine! I have calculated that as a result of this compilation, Speedy Wunderground now has 24 new friends."
