Reggae Disco Rockers reunite with Tina, a celebrated vocalist who has remained at the forefront of the music scene from the 1990s to the present.
This release features “Caught Up in the Rapture,” a mellow classic from Anita Baker’s acclaimed album "Rapture." Beloved alongside “Sweet Love,” this timeless song is reimagined through Reggae Disco Rockers’ distinctive sensibility as a supple, richly textured lovers rock cover.
Built around the crisp beats of the MPC3000, the track unfolds with soulful guitar riffs and enveloping chord work that create a deep, captivating groove. Synth sounds evoking the atmosphere of the 1980s add another layer, resulting in a track brimming with originality. Tina’s expressive, soaring vocals glide over the smooth soundscape, while a gently accompanying flute adds further color. Preserving the mellow appeal of the original while transforming it into a sound uniquely their own, RDR deliver a truly distinctive rendition.
Side B features “Yume no Yume no Yume,” originally included on the group’s second album, "Reggae Magic," and long requested by fans as a single. Newly mixed for this release, the song finally makes its long-awaited debut on 7-inch vinyl.
Joining the group once again is eico, following their previous collaboration on “Taiyo no Ishi,” alongside Kiyoshi Matsutakeya, a singer who has been active since the early days of the scene and continues to perform today. Their voices blend gently in this heartwarming love song.
Filled with Reggae Disco Rockers’ deep respect for soul music from both past and present, as well as the distinctive grooves they have cultivated around reggae, this is an essential release with two tracks well worth hearing.
