In 1986, legendary vocalist Paul Di’Anno who was the unmistakable original voice behind Iron Maiden’s formative years launched a bold new chapter with Battlezone. Following his departure from Iron Maiden, Di’Anno refused to look backward. Instead, he forged ahead, assembling Battlezone to deliver a fresh assault of raw British heavy metal power. Children of Madness was the second album by Paul Di'Anno's Battlezone, released in August 1987. It followed the acclaimed debut Fighting Back and represented a significant shift in the band's lineup and songwriting approach. The album was recorded at Village Recorders in Dagenham, East London, and produced by Ian Richardson, who had also worked on the debut album. While Fighting Back is often viewed as Battlezone's classic release, many fans consider Children of Madness an underrated gem. It showcases Di'Anno moving toward a more melodic and Americanized heavy metal sound while still retaining the aggression that made him famous on Iron
Maiden's first two albums. "Children of Madness" The title track is one of the album's standout songs, combining Battlezone's heavy riffing with a darker lyrical theme and remains a fan favorite from Di'Anno's post-Maiden catalogue.
Four decades later, Children of Madness remains an essential document of 1980s heavy metal and to celebrate the upcoming 40th Anniversary Deko Entertainment has remastered and repackaged this release from the former
Iron Maiden frontman. It will be available on 180G vinyl and CD, and contains the
Bonus Tracks “To The Limit” and “Down Under".
