A COLLECTION OF UNRELEASED MUSIC FROM THE YEARS THAT SOLIDIFIED HIM AS A RAP LEGEND
British rap legend, director and filmmaker Nines is giving his fans something they've waited years for. Today he releases Lost Tapes, a collection of unreleased music recorded across his career as a full-time rapper, arriving on streaming platforms today.
Lost Tapes pulls from Nines at his most prolific, the period during Crabs in a Bucket, his UK Number 1 album, when everything changed for him and he committed to rap full time. He recorded more in those years than he could ever release, and a lot of it never made it to the fans who needed it most. Two years into retirement, and with the clarity that only distance can bring, Nines has decided it's time the world finally heard it.
Nines closed the book on his rap career in 2024 with Quit While You're Ahead, his sixth and final album, released via his own independent label, Zino Records. The farewell arrived alongside a sold-out show at London's O2 Arena, a night The Guardian called a "career highlight" - and one of the most talked-about headline rap shows of the decade.
He hasn't slowed down since, Nines has simply redirected the same instinct for storytelling behind the camera. Ice City, his most recent project, is a five-part drama series that sees him cast exciting new talent and tell the kind of stories his audience have long been asking for. It follows Crop Circle Farm, one of his most ambitious directorial projects to date - a bright, satirical comedy short that premiered alongside Quit While You're Ahead and saw Nines step into a modern, twisted take on Willy Wonka opposite an ensemble cast.
Now, with Lost Tapes, Nines hands his fans the missing piece - the music that captures him at his sharpest, most focused, and most hungry, recorded in real time as he was becoming the rapper the culture would come to call a legend. Lost Tapes is out now on all streaming platforms.
