Italian musician, producer, composer, and instrument builder Alessandro Cortini unveils his latest release, NATI INFINITI, via Mute.
Following up on 2021’s Scuro Chiaro, NATI INFINITI is a 40-minute piece split into five movements, based on an immersive audio installation that Cortini originally created for the Sónar Lisboa festival in 2022 where it was presented across four floors of the Museu de Lisboa’s Moagem. Cortini later debuted the live performance at Berlin’s Atonal festival in 2023, reimagining the work as a unique, evolving dialogue. The record is mixed by Grammy nominated recording engineer, producer, and mixer Marta Salogni (Björk, Depeche Mode, Sampha), and features Cortini’s Strega synth, which he co-designed with music technology company Make Noise.
Cortini is one of the foremost figures of contemporary electronic music, best known for his haunting, atmospheric work. A longstanding member of Nine Inch Nails, he is a highly prolific solo artist, releasing a steady stream of his own heady music on luminary labels, including Mute, Hospital, and Important Records for the past decade. Throughout his shadowy rise to fame, he has collaborated with the likes of Lawrence English, Daniel Avery and Merzbow, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (the only Italian musician ever honoured).
