Mudpie - Rain Or Shine Mudpie

American rockers MUDPIE have signed with French label Bad Reputation Records for the expanded edition release of their lost-in-the-vaults album, ‘ Rain Or Shine’, originally circulated as a demo CD only, which is set for November release. Featuring heavily credited veterans Keith Slack (Steelhouse Lane, MSG, Mother Road) on vocals, guitarist John Grell (Winterkat, Rhett Forrester, Robin McAuley), bassist Allan Hearn (Steelhouse Lane, Powder, Terriff), and drummer Khurt Maier (Salty Dog, Max Havoc, Ratt), MUDPIE were one of the most promising albeit short-lived acts on the Southern California music scene after forming in the mid-1990s. Led by Texas natives Grell and Slack eager to explore their Southern blues rock heritage, MUDPIE recorded sessions at Montrose vocalist Keith St. John’s Hollywood CA studio and Black Sheep mainman Willie Basse’s Van Nuys CA compound which yielded more than a dozen originals and a cover of the Elmore James classic, ‘It Hurts Me Too’, running the gamut from intense slide drenched rockers to soulful acoustic blues that recall genre giants such as Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Robin Trower as well as heritage acts like The Black Crowes and Cry Of Love. "We are excited to finally get an opportunity to give MUDPIE a proper release through Bad Reputation", states co-founder John Grell. Although the original 11-song CD got out there in very limited quantities at the time, it wasn’t packaged properly, nor ever promoted in any fashion. This is the first time the album is given its due, including an extensive booklet with lyrics, photos, and liner notes that tell the MUDPIE story. We’ve also unearthed 3 bonus tracks no one’s ever heard before to make this release even more special. And, of course, everything is newly remastered". In addition to the band’s aforementioned protagonists, ‘Rain Or Shine’ also features contributions from original MUDPIE bassist Morad (Terrell, Robin McAuley), Gregg Buchwalter (Sass Jordan, The Outpatience) and Bo Koster (My Morning Jacket, Roger Waters) on keyboards, and drummer James Bradley Jr. (Chuck Mangione, Mary’s Danish).
