Gordon Giltrap MBE is one of the UK’s most revered and respected guitarists, as well as one of the world’s best acoustic guitarists, who is showing no signs of stopping performing live or recording new material.
His music has garnished so many more places than people realise, from the radio to TV themes and beyond, since his debut album release in 1968. His theme for the BBC “Holiday Programme” in 1977, ‘Heartsong’ is still a much-loved track and became a hit single for him in 1978, along with ‘Party Piece’, which was ITV used for their Autumn TV programme trailer in 1979.
Personally curated by Gordon from his incredible back-catalogue, the box set includes nine of his favourite albums starting with “Visionary” (1976), giving us a journey to the end of the 1970s, where he then takes us on a whistle stop tour through the 1980s and including his album “One To One” with Fairport Convention’s Ric Sanders, a brief stop in the 1990s with “Troubadour”, based on his role as the Narrator in Sir Cliff Richard’s musical “Heathcliff”, in which he performed live on every night. He then travels into the 21st century with two further albums, culminating with a brand-new album, “A New Light” with Mark Guyatt, which is released exclusively in this box set.
The full list of albums are as follows: “Visionary”, “Perilous Journey”, “Fear Of The Dark”, “The Peacock Party”, “Live”, “One To One”, “Troubadour”, “Drifter”, “Shining Morn” and “A New Light”.
“Perilous Journey” also has an all-star version of ‘Heartsong’ added to the end of the album, which features Brian May, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Midge Ure and Neil Murray.
The booklet contains a 3,500+ word Foreword and Album-by-Album annotation by Gordon, as well as photos from his own archive.
The Limited Edition set also includes a hand-signed print by Gordon.
