Brazilian pop and jazz icon Ed Motta, "The Colossus of Rio," returns with Toc-Toc, his 16th album and first album in 13 years sung in Portuguese again. Marking a homecoming to both his native language and signature blend of soul, funk, and Brazilian grooves, the album finds Motta reconnecting with the musical roots. Inspired by the shimmering sound of the 1980s, Toc-Toc blends sophisticated electro-funk, soulful grooves, lush harmonies and unmistakable Brazilian rhythms. It features infectious melodies and refined arrangements paired with Motta's warm, instantly recognizable voice.
Born into one of Brazil's most influential musical families, Ed Motta was exposed to an eclectic range of styles from an early age. As the nephew of the legendary songwriter and soul pioneer Tim Maia, he grew up surrounded by music, discovering everything from rock, jazz and progressive music to funk, soul, disco, MPB and bossa nova. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Cameo and Brazilian greats alike, Motta developed a distinctive sound that effortlessly bridges Brazilian music with American soul, jazz and funk.
Ed Motta began performing professionally at the age of just 15 and quickly established himself as one of Brazil's most innovative and respected musicians. Throughout a career spanning more than three decades, he has released 16 studio albums, collaborated with renowned international artists and earned a devoted following around the world. His music is celebrated for its harmonic sophistication, impeccable musicianship and unique ability to combine technical brilliance with irresistible groove.

Shipping

- We send all postal orders via Royal Mail's 48 hour tracked service. Your tracking number will be added to your order upon fulfilment
