Johnny Maz, also known for his work in the acclaimed prog collective HUIS, serves as the main creative force behind Code 18--writing, arranging, and producing the music that defines the project's unique sonic identity.
Joined by talented collaborators JF Remillard on guitar and Benoit "Bonz" Plamondon on vocals, Code 18 debuted with the critically noted concept album Human Error! in 2020. That release explored narrative and musical contrasts with sweeping arrangements and vibrant instrumental craftsmanship.
"Two Places" continues this artistic evolution, but pushes the envelope, blending intricate progressive structures with evocative lyrical themes reflecting dualities--inner vs. outer worlds, heart vs. mind, and solitude amidst connection.
"Two Places is our most ambitious work yet," says Johnny Maz. "We wanted to push further into both emotional resonance and musical expansion while honoring the roots that brought us here."
