Alex Warren returns with his highly anticipated sophomore album, WILDCHILD, following the success of his critically acclaimed debut You’ll Be Alright, Kid, which featured the chart-topping, record-breaking hit “Ordinary” and established Warren as one of music’s biggest global breakout stars. Inspired by the nickname his late father gave him growing up, WILDCHILD is Warren’s most vulnerable but also most joyous work to date — a raw, cinematic collection exploring grief, growth, love, and self-discovery. Blending heart-stopping ballads with infectious pop anthems, the album captures Warren at his most honest yet, pairing deeply personal storytelling with soaring vocals and expansive production. Featuring recordings of his father’s voice woven throughout the project, WILDCHILD offers an intimate portrait of an artist moving from heartbreak toward healing.
When I was a kid, my dad used to call me Wildchild. Then, when I was 9 years old, he passed away. The name always stuck with me. I even have it tattooed on my arm. I wasn’t exactly sure what it meant or why it felt so meaningful until I started writing my second album. During the writing process, I spent a lot of time watching old home videos and listening to my father speak to my siblings and me. For a long time, it was too hard to watch, and I stayed away from that experience. It’s incredible to look back 15 years in the past and already see the person you’re becoming. Writing this album was like therapy for me and a way to really process past trauma and learn a lot about my current self. This album shows where I am in my life today. My first album has the feel of a man who is broken. This one is about a man trying to heal, process, and live in the present. It has been a transformative experience to confront these feelings and then share them with the whole world. I hope this transparent view into my grief, love, and whole life will allow others to heal, feel seen, and never be alone.
