AVID Roots continues with its Classic Roots Albums series with a re-mastered 2CD compilation set featuring great artists interpreting classic gospel songs entitled Sings Gospel, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details. Our Five album set features recordings by the following artists:- 'Elvis Presley: His Hand In Mine'; 'Jim Reeves: God Be With You'; 'The Jordanaires: Peace In The Valley'; 'Pat Boone: He Leadeth Me' and 'Nat King Cole: Every Time I Feel The Spirit' The man upstairs moves in mysterious ways! Our collection of great artists interpreting classic gospel songs has brought together some unlikely bedfellows. Who would have thought they would see the mighty King of rock n roll alongside the guy considered to be the 'uncoolest' fellow in the music business? But nevertheless here they are together sharing grooves for the Lord. Elvis and Pat Boone! Some would argue that this was the beginning of the decline for the King following his seismic explosion into the rock n roll firmament. The army and the films were to follow but what is indisputable is what an absolutely wonderful voice he had and these gospel songs certainly bought out the best in that voice. Order is somewhat restored as we have also included Elvis's buddies The Jordanaires with their 'Peace In The Valley' set of vintage harmonising. We complete the set by featuring two very different artists, one from the world of country and the other from the world of jazz, Jim Reeves and Nat King Cole. Both with the God given voices to interpret these wonderful songs, their albums could be seen as payback time for receiving that wonderful gift of song.
