Steve Hogarth is best known as the charismatic frontman and lyricist of legendary British band Marillion. Renowned for his expressive voice, poetic lyrics and emotional performances, Hogarth has helped shape the band’s evolution into one of the most enduring and respected acts in progressive rock.
Outside Marillion, Steve has carved out a rich solo career that allows him to explore music in a more personal, cinematic way. Hogarth is celebrated for his ability to connect deeply with audiences, whether on grand stages or in stripped-down, acoustic settings. His songwriting often examines love, loss, spirituality and human resilience, delivered through a voice that remains one of the most unique and emotive in modern rock.
“Ice Cream Genius” was originally released in 1997 and is the first and, to date, only solo album by H. The 2026 Deluxe Edition makes this timeless album available on vinyl for the first time. The Heavyweight Black 2LP Gatefold includes the track “The Last Thing” that has not been physically released in Europe before. Alongside the vinyl, a 3CD+Blu-ray Mediabook will also be available. This delivers the most comprehensive look at “Ice Cream Genius” and the H Band with over 11 hours of content, most of which is unreleased. It covers the story of the album, from initial ideas, writing, demos and recording sessions to create the album and including background stories and meanings of the songs from H himself. In addition to the studio album on disc one, discs two and three hold a full live show H played with his band at Dingwalls on 9th August 2000. The Blu-ray contains a documentary of the album, numerous demos and studio session version as well as three additional live shows, highlighting the development of the H band from 1997 to 2003
