The sole album by Nashvillebased 8piece funk/soul band Moonpie, originally released in 1977. Highly soughtafter among record diggers due to the rarity
of original pressings, this album stands out for its rich arrangements—featuring powerful horn sections, smooth electric piano leads, and sweet vocal
harmonies.
Seven of the nine tracks are covers of iconic ‘70s cuts, including songs associated with Tower of Power, Steely Dan, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
A standout is their take on Stevie Wonder’s “You Are the Sunshine of My Life,” which evolves from a slow bossa groove into an elegant sambainfused
solo section.
