Whodini debuted in 1982 as one of the first commercially successful hip hop acts to come out of New York. The group stood out because of their distinctive rap style with a twist of R&B. In retrospect this laid the groundwork for the hugely popular 'New Jack Swing' sound that dominated the charts in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Another milestone for the group was their debut single "Magic's Wand". It was the first rap song to have its own music video on MTV. A real milestone! This compilation covers the successful period of their first albums. All these albums went platinum in the US and are still considered an essential part of the early days of hip hop. Greatest Hits is available as a limited edition on gold coloured vinyl.
