“Two things dominate my memories of the surreal year that was 2020: meeting my husband and Schubert’s final piano sonatas. Both were happy accidents. When my plans for a near-perpetual tour playing the 32 Beethoven sonatas fell apart, I devoted my daily practice to music I adored but had put to one side. The time I spent with Schubert during the pandemic was an extraordinary gift that changed me forever.
“In 2022, when I was thinking about how to program the three sonatas, I decided that I wanted to pair each of them with a newly commissioned work; it is those works that comprise this recording. They are not meant to relate or respond to Schubert’s music in any way. But Schubert’s music is a portal into a different realm, and I wanted to play it alongside new music that would similarly expose me to sounds and perspectives I had never imagined, much less heard.
“Tyson Gholston Davis, Alvin Singleton, and Tyshawn Sorey have written works that are, in three completely different ways, full of mystery and wonder. Living with them has made me grow as a musician and, I suspect, a person.

Shipping

- We send all postal orders via Royal Mail's 48 hour tracked service. Your tracking number will be added to your order upon fulfilment

Store Pick Up
- Orders can be placed for collection from either of our stores (Oxford or Witney)
- Let us know which store you would like to collect from either by adding a note to your cart or by emailing orders@truckmusic.store

Pre-Orders
- Pre-ordering is a great way to secure your copy of an album prior to its release date
- We aim to ensure all pre-ordered products are shipped or ready for collection by the album's release date
- Pre-order release dates are subject to change, we will keep the product page up to date with any changes so please refer to this if you are concerned an order hasn't been shipped
