Tokyo-based four-piece Mizu Irazu brings its second album, "Throw Away the Water, Go Back to Intimacy," originally released in 2025 after approximately
five years in the making, to LP. Drawing inspiration from traditional music across Asia and Japan, the band creates a distinctive sound that combines
live performances with meticulous editing.
The nine-track album includes "uturu," which makes use of Japanese onomatopoeia; "bakeru," which incorporates microtones and hyperpop-style vocal
processing into rhythms derived from kecak; and "inoru," a track running over seven minutes inspired by odori nenbutsu, a Buddhist practice of chanting
while dancing. The album also reveals traces of new age and ambient music. Guest musicians include paya (Yutai Communications), buoy, Marty Holoubek,
and Kazuhiko Masumura (formerly of Mori wa Ikiteiru).
For this LP edition, Toru Kase has created a new design, and the release includes newly written liner notes by Yuji Shibasaki.
A remix of "uturu" by Ben Nobuto, an alternate version not included on this LP, was also selected for "Jacob's Optimum Music Feast," a Spotify playlist
curated by Jacob Collier.
