Elis Regina - Elis Elis Regina

Released in 1972 by Philips Records, the album "Elis" introduced several new additions to Elis Regina's career. It was the singer's first album, produced by Roberto Menescal, who also helped select the repertoire by young composers, and the first with arrangements by pianist César Camargo Mariano, with whom Elis would begin a fruitful musical and emotional partnership. To accompany the singer, César (piano) enlisted the renowned musicians Hélio Delmiro (guitar), Luizão Maia (double bass), Paulinho Braga (drums), and Chico Batera(percussion).

Elis delivered more intimate interpretations, enhanced by the album's sophisticated sound.

The excellent musical selection includes "20 anos blue" (Sueli Costa/Vitor Martins), "Bala com bala" (João Bosco/Aldir Blanc), "Cais" and "Nada será como antes" (Milton Nascimento/Ronaldo Bastos), "Mucuripe" (Belchior/Fagner), "Atrás da porta" (Chico Buarque/Francis Hime), "Me deixa em paz" (Ivan Lins/Ronaldo Monteiro de Souza), "Casa no campo" (Zé Rodrix/Tavito), and "Águas de março" (Antônio Carlos Jobim), among others. All of this makes "Elis" one of the best albums by Elis Regina and MPB.
