Following the success of Whiskey and Tattoo, Jay-Jay Johanson released Poison. The album was a hit in Sweden and France, reaching number 20 in the French charts. The singles “Keep It a Secret” and “Believe in Us” became popular alternative hits across Europe.
As the album art implies, Poison is arguably one of Jay-Jay Johanson’s most sinister works. To create this feel, Jay-Jay Johanson collaborated with Robin Guthrie, who is famous for his work with Cocteau Twins. Despite the themes of betrayal and misunderstanding, Johanson's dark humour is never far away. Musically, Johanson once again blends genres such as trip hop, jazz, and electronic influences to create a hauntingly beautiful listening experience.
Poison remains a fan favourite and a key release in Johanson’s discography. It is a must-have for fans of sinister yet hopeful electronic pop.
Poison is available as a limited edition of 500 numbered copies on crystal clear vinyl and includes a 4-page booklet.
