ABA is the debut album by Sudanese singer and oud player Sulaf. It’s a deeply personal tribute to her grandfather, Aba, a Sufi poet who wrote and sang quietly at home, filling family life with music, reflection, and joy. Drawing on his songs and spirit, Sulaf reimagines this intimate repertoire through a contemporary lens. Produced by Maxime Kosinetz (Imarhan, Gruff Rhys), the songs’ Sudanese musical textures intertwine with tasteful synths, atmospheric soundscapes, and spoken-word interludes that deepen the album’s storytelling.
Sulaf is the guest vocalist on Tinariwen’s latest single ‘Imidiwan Takyada’ from forthcoming album Hoggar.
Sulaf will be announced on 24 March 2026 as the special guest for the majority of dates on Tinariwen’s Europe/UK tour.
