In fact, this represents a musical round trip between Colombia and Peru, since \u003cstrong\u003eAfrosound\u003c\/strong\u003e emerged as a “studio” project in response to the strong wave of Peruvian psychedelic cumbia that was beginning to gain popularity in Colombia in the late 1970s. A group of composers and musicians associated with \u003cstrong\u003eDiscos Fuentes\u003c\/strong\u003e were commissioned to record cumbias in this style under the name \u003cstrong\u003eAfrosound\u003c\/strong\u003e. It was in this context that ‘\u003cstrong\u003eTiro al blanco\u003c\/strong\u003e’ was released, and its success prompted several Peruvian artists (\u003cstrong\u003eLos Mirlos\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eLos Sanders\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eLos Tigres\u003c\/strong\u003e…) to record their own versions of the song.
