Dinked 85 is a truly special release, Mirry, a project by Tom Fraser and Simon Tong. The Dinked Edition of Mirry is released on December 11th, over 2 months before the standard variants!
Mirabel Lomer was a quiet woman who spent the majority of her life caring for the elderly; however, she had a secret side life as a piano composer, recorded by her nephew on his tape recorder. These recordings were lost, however, until Mirry’s great-nephew Tom Fraser saved one of her records from a house clearance. After 30 years, Fraser decided to listen to the recordings and was amazed by what he heard, pledging to re-work and remix the recordings for the world to hear. Collaborating with his brother-in-law, Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good the Bad and the Queen, The Magnetic North), Fraser has taken these recordings and elevated them into a beautiful collage, as if it were a collaboration between him and his long-since-passed great aunt. Mirry is an incredibly special album, at times resembling the best of artists like The Caretaker and William Basinski but elevating this to a startling beauty, full of emotion.
